This is some of the damage I’ve seen caused by extreme high or low humidity (outside the safe range of about 40% to 60%), and/or by cycling between extremes. Controlling humidity can only prevent damage; it can’t repair it.

This piano was kept in a storage unit for years. The dryness caused the soundboard to collapse, thus breaking the glue joint with the bridge.
